| | I-20/59 Corridor Study from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa The purpose of the I-20/59 Corridor Study from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa was to assess the development potential of the area and serve as a guide for evaluating future infrastructure and economic development opportunities. The Study consists of mapped and report data related to area demographics, transportation, water and sewer infrastructure, existing land use, environmental and cultural features and soil constraints. The study also includes a Siting Criteria Matrix to be used for the analysis of potential industrial development sites and shows examples of the rating process. The report was prepared for the Appalachian Regional Commission by the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham and the West Alabama Regional Commission. The Study was completed in June of 2001.

| | I-20/59 Corridor Study from Tuscaloosa to Mississippi The West Alabama Regional Commission and the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission prepared the study of the interstate corridor between Tuscaloosa and Mississippi for the Economic Development Administration. The study includes parts of three counties: Tuscaloosa, Greene and Sumter. Like previous studies of other interstate corridors, the report assesses the economic development potential of the area along the interstate and serves as a guide for local officials and economic developers. The study contains mapped and report data on area demographics, transportation, existing land use, wetlands and floodplains, slope and soils, cultural features and water and sewer infrastructure. The report also contains detailed information on available industrial parks and buildings and areas that have been evaluated for future development. The study was completed in March of 2004.   | |

| | Commuting Pattern of Workers in West Alabama This document maps the commuting pattern of workers by county in the West Alabama Region. This information comes from the 2000 Census. There is a map for each of the West Alabama counties. The maps show the number of workers commuting into and out of the counties.   | |

| | Directory of Manufacturing Companies in West Alabama WARC publishes the "Directory of Manufacturing Companies in West Alabama" to promote trade among the industries in West Alabama. It lists a contact person, address, telephone, number of employees, raw materials used and products by county location.

| | Regional Directory WARC publishes a directory of municipal, county, state and federal officials every other year. The "Regional Directory" is used as a single source of names, addresses and telephone numbers of persons frequently contacted in the daily operation of intergovernmental affairs. The directory is distributed to local governments and state and federal officials, and to others upon request.

| | Revolving Loan Fund Application The Commission operates a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to assist local businesses and industries in their start-up and expansion activities. The goal of the program is to create permanent new jobs for citizens of West Alabama while leveraging private sector investments. The RLF provides gap financing that is not available from commercial lenders. As the loans are repaid, the principal and interest are returned to the fund for lending to other businesses to create still more jobs and investment opportunities. | | The WARC publishes traffic count brochures for every county in the region. The traffic counts are provided by the Alabama Department of Transportation. The WARC produces the maps and compiles the spreadsheets. The brochures are updated annually.   | |

| | Authorized Project List for the Tuscaloosa Area MPO - Fiscal Year 2009 The Federal Highway Administration requires Metropolitan Planning Organizations to publish a list of projects that were authorized in the previous fiscal year and involved federal highway or transit funds. A project is considered authorized when a funding contract has been completed. The authorized project list includes those projects from the Tuscaloosa area funded in fiscal year 2008, which ran from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009.

| | Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan The Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan serves as a guide for improving bicycle and pedestrian activity in Tuscaloosa County. The plan includes construction, education, promotion, and policy projects intended to integrate bicycle and pedestrian travel into the existing transportation environment.
The plan was initiated by the MPO in order to facilitate the development of their transportation plans and programs. However, due to the fact that many of the proposed projects fall outside of the authority of the MPO, the MPO intended other agencies and governments to use the plan. The current plan was adopted in 2007.

| | Long-Range Transportation Plan The purpose of a long-range transportation plan is to budget transportation funds over a 20-year plus time period so that future transportation demand can be met. The Tuscaloosa Area MPO is required to update the long-range transportation plan every five years. The MPO is required to balance proposed projects against expected revenue. The focus of the MPO's plan is on federally funded highway and transit projects. However all modes of transportation are considered, regardless of funding source.

| | Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a short-range plan composed of a prioritized list of transportation projects. The TIP covers a four-year period. Generally projects on the TIP are taken from the current long-range transportation plan.
The TIP is redeveloped every four years and revised every year. The TIP is financially constrained. The ALDOT uses the TIP as a guide in selecting projects for funding in the Tuscaloosa area and in the development of the State Transportation Improvement Program.

| | Tuscaloosa County Traffic Counts The traffic count brochure contains a multiple page spread that lists traffic counts at various locations throughout Tuscaloosa County. The brochure also includes several maps depicting the location of the traffic count stations. The MPO staff developed this brochure due to the large number of requests they receive for traffic counts. The Alabama Department of Transportation provides the MPO staff with traffic counts on an annual basis.

| | Unified Planning Work Program The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) represents the budget and work tasks necessary to accomplish and maintain the transportation planning process within the Tuscaloosa study area. The UPWP is developed to coordinate transportation and related planning activities for a cooperative, continuing, and comprehensive planning process.
The primary objective of the UPWP is the development of an integrated planning program which considers the planning activities of each modal group and coordinates these activities to produce a total transportation plan serving all segments of the population. The MPO updates the UPWP annually.
